Fun And Culture in Beijing 2006 - 2007

2007

Tuesday 11 December 2007

We are proud to have City Weekend as our Media Sponsor.

FC Club 11 December 2007

City Weekend

FC Club Career Development – Headhunter Social Networking Evening.

A new record! 168 people attended the December Social Networking Evening. The event was once again highly successful with nearly 30 representatives from 12 Executive Search / headhunter companies present. The continuing success and continually growing numbers bodes well for our plans to run two FC Club events/month in 2008. The theme of the new event is still to be finalised as is the start date but it looks like the green light has been given by you, the guests.

Unfortunately though, despite having confirmed his availability, a last moment and unexpected work overload prevented our volunteer photographer from attending. Murphy of course was there in full force since my trusty backup camera is no longer quite so trusty.

City Weekend

FC Club Career Development – Headhunter Social Networking Evening.

Nearly 150 people attended the November Social Networking Evening. The event was once again highly successful with about 20 representatives from 11 Executive Search / headhunter companies present. One interesting occurrence was that for there was nearly complete silence for the Lucky Draw. This is assumed to be a reflection on the quality of this month's prizes which included 3 tickets for the Beijing showing of the Musical 42nd Street.

City Weekend

FC Club Career Development – Headhunter Social Networking Evening at the Beijing Hilton's Zeta Bar.

There are always many that wish to claim that they are the reason for a success. In this instance the combination of the change from Thursdays to Tuesdays, the return to the East side of Beijing and the pleasantly warm evening are arguably the main reason why this month's event were attended by a record 161 people.

FC Club 13 September 2007

City Weekend

This was the last in a series of 4 great events held at the X-Change Bar. Despite a record high registration for this evening the weather seemed to have been the deciding factor in the actual number of participants. 115 people attended and spent the evening enjoying both the atmosphere and the opportunity for career enhancement. We were especially lucky that, in addition to our traditional prizes (from the Intercontinental Hotel and from Dragonfly Massage Parlour) we had prizes donated by Luxe's Beijing City Guide and by Radio 774AM (Beijing's local bi-lingual Radio Station). The Radio 774 prizes were presented by Jane (Jellico) Chen the host of the "Tail of Two Cities programme".

FC Club 9 August 2007

This was another great event. There were 121 participants of whom about 55% were Chinese nationals and about 45% were foreign nationals. The feed back from both the Headhunters/Exec Search companies and the "seekers" has been that once again a lot of useful connections were made.

12 July 2007

Despite the summer holidays this month's FC Club Career Development - Headhunter Social Networking evening was attended by just under 100 people.

14 June 2007

12 April 2007

The Fortune Careers Club Headhunter Night on 12 April 2007 at the Hilton's Zeta Bar (Beijing) was a huge success with attendance far exceeding the expected numbers.

122 people attended this evening including 10 Head-hunter / Executive Search professionals. Approximately 50% were foreign nationals and 50% were Chinese nationals. The attendees were from the following industries: Accounting, Arts & Culture, Business Development Consultants, Embassy staff, Engineers, Insurance, I.T., Investment, Journalists & Media, Relocation Experts, Sales & Marketing, Teachers & Trainers and more.

Many people stayed long after the event officially ended at 10.0pm.

8 March 2007

FC Club Headhunter Night at The Fairview Garden Business Club.

This was the first in a series of monthly events that we organised in Beijing on behalf of the Shanghai based Fortune Connection Club (FC Club).

These evenings provide an informal atmosphere for Executive Search / Headhunter companies, HR personnel, job-seekers and potential job-seekers to mingle and to make connections for a better personal future.

The first Beijing event was attended by 34 people, who all enjoyed the casual atmosphere and the Fairview's pleasant environment.

2006

4 - 8 December 2006 - East Meets West (end)

East Meets West (end) As part of the Services and Solutions that we provide for the Expat community in China, we introduced to Beijing Top-Class (as opposed to top-less) Cabaret. We brought to Beijing 5 Stars of London's West End Musical Theatre especially for these evenings. The show was called "East Meets West (end)" - that's London's West End. We presented the best songs from some of the most famous musicals. Peter McCarthy's musical arrangements and the magical voices of Mathew Gould, Clive Carter, Jan Hartley and Helen Goldwyn delighted the audiences. The show was attended by many of our media friends including CCTV6, Radio 774AM, Time Out, City Weekend and Xinhua News Agency. This was a first for Beijing and will be continued in 2007.

28 October 2006 - The Annual British Charity Ball

British Charity Ball 2006 The Managing Director of China Expert International Ltd., Colin Friedman, was a member of the British Ball Organising Committee. The theme for 2006 was "The Swinging Sixties" and money was raised for two charities - "Care" and "People Link".

16 April 2006 - Chinese Language and Culture Event

The First Beijing Annual Chinese Language and Culture Event was held at the H.Q. Ritz Hotel. The event was organised by China Expert International Ltd. (a member of the British Chamber of Commerce in China) and Beijing Oriental Sun Culture and Media Ltd. The event was a free event provided as a public service predominantly for foreigners living in Beijing but open to all irrespective of nationality, age or gender.

Most of the better Chinese language Schools attended this event in order to promote their special skills.

The venue’s special shape was utilised tothe full. The room was horseshoe shaped surrounding a central stage. The tables were along the sides of the “U”. The event concept was based on using the central stage as a platform for the exhibitors, in turn, to promote their services. Additionally the tables along the length of the “U” were allocated as meeting areas for the exhibitors to hold private consultations with their potential clients.
